Both the fall and spring 8th grade Physical Education classes participate in a mini-triathlon. Teams are drawn at random. Each student completes all three events: 500 meter swim, 3.6 mile bike ride, 1 mile run. Individual and team scores are calculated following a set criteria. The team pictured demonstrated their unity and enthusiasm as they prepared for the triathlon.

    The Mitchell Middle School is "Building Dreams in the Middle" for students in grades 6, 7, and 8. We currently have about 600 students enrolled with school faculty of about 55 and a total staff of approximately 100 people.  

     We operate with a middle school philosophy utilizing teams of teachers working with students.  Within the teams, we teach language arts, mathematics, social sciences, and science. We also want students to venture into other areas: physical education, art, band, vocal music, general music, industrial technology, computers, family and consumer science, graphic arts,  Spanish, and journalism.  Students also have a  Student Responsibility Block (SRB) for approximately 45 minutes.  Our school day begins at 8:15 A.M. and ends at 3:15 P.M..       More
