AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION
 

Students completing three (3) semesters of agricultural education in the following courses; Animal Science, Plant Management, or Horticulture can be granted one (1) lab science equivalency credit. The work in vocational agriculture is designed primarily for those students who plan to seek gainful employment in agribusiness or production agriculture. Students will be given an exploratory outlook into 46 occupations in the agribusiness field ranging from an Agricultural Economist to Fish Game and Wildlife Specialist. Objectives will be accomplished through classroom and shop work, field trips, supervised experience programs, and the youth activities of the National FFA.

 
It is suggested, but not required, that the student follow the sequence of:
* Animal Science/Basic Carpentry
* Plant Management
* Metal Working
* Domestic Engine Use OR
* Horticulture
 
* Computer Agribusiness Management and Marketing

Animal Science/Basic Carpentry 1 credit Year

This course is open to all students who have an interest in animals, large or small. This class is the study of raising animals for profit or pleasure. The student will explore the care and feeding of all common animals which can be useful for occupational skills as an animal nutritionist, feed mill operator, veterinarian, livestock marketer, meat inspector, pet store operator or many others. Students will also explore the area of horsemanship. Students may also have the opportunity to develop skills in woodworking and other projects as approved by the instructor.

(Agri-Science)
 
This course is open to all students who have an interest in plant management and natural resources. This class blends the study of wildlife management skills, soils, plant production, and conservation of natural resources which can be useful for occupations such as and elevator manager, agronomist, soil conservationist, agricultural chemical field person, fertilizer technician, and many others.

This course offers an introductory shop experience in developing skills in basic welding, metalworking, and metal construction. Students will gain experience in gas welding, arc welding, and wire welding. All personal projects must have prior approval by the instructor.
